Portraits

Here are a selection of portraits both in oil and pastel. Portraiture is perhaps my favourite endeavour. There is nothing more exciting than seeing an image begin to appear out of the background. It takes on a life of its own and it is that which it is so important to preserve and enhance. I have executed a number of commissions and I am always happy to undertake new ones. Commissions: To give a guide to the cost of a commission, a single person portrait in oil of 50 x50 cms would be about $750, pastel unframed less. This would include a meeting (if possible) with the subject in order to make preliminary sketches and take photographs. During the painting process I like to keep in touch with the commissioner to discuss progress and any suggestions they may wish to make, it is after all they who will be hanging or presenting the painting.
